Initially going by the name The Project, Velvet Revolver formed as a one time show at a benefit concert, but enjoyed working together and continued as a supergroup. Velvet Revolver won a Grammy Award and sold over 2 million copies of their debut album, after Scott Weiland was chosen as the band's lead vocalist.
