The music of TV on the Radio is as diverse as any band's, which places the New York band among the avant-garde of the rock scene. The original fusion of jazz, doo wop and electro, among other styles, does not mean that TV on the Radio are impossible to listen to. On the contrary, Return to Cookie Mountain, TV on the Radio's 2006 album won such praise, including an Album of the Year honor from Spin Magazine.
