About System of a Down
System of a Down are somewhat gothic and dark, like Tool perhaps, but as alternative as Jane's Addiction. The Los Angeles band maintains a safe distance from all-out metal, instead often classified as nu metal. System of a Down collaborated with Rick Rubin on their music for a while, particularly on the Toxicity album in 2001, which helped them create a unique alternative sound that reached great commercial success.
