The big crossover break that Shakira enjoyed was after performing on the first Spanish show on MTV; and unplugged show. After this, she released her first English hit single, 'Whenever, Wherever'. The song climbed into the Top Ten of the singles chart, peaking at number six. A year after the release of her first album, "Laundry Service" it had gone to triple platinum.
