After enjoying success with a number of consecutive number ones in the charts, Savage Garden released their first album. It debuted at number one and spent 13 weeks at the top, the third longest for any Australian act. Their second album was composed by phone across the world, since Hayes had moved to New York It was, however, less groundbreaking than the first, and Savage Garden did not have many hits.
