In 1985 R.E.M. recorded the Fables of the Reconstruction album; the record was issued in London, and it was produced by Joe Boyd. The LP had a great success both sides of Atlantic. The following year the band issued Lifes Rich Pageant, and in 1987 R.E.M. released the Dead Letter Office LP.
