Pat Metheny is a name known across the world of jazz. The Pat Metheny Group, which was founded in 1977, has recorded numerous albums written mostly by Pat Metheny himself and pianist Lyle Mays. Metheny has also played duets and joined other side projects, some of which have pleased critics and some upset them, as they turn from balder musical experimentation to more pastoral and sweet jazz.
