At first, on Old Friends From Young Years and Infest, the music style performed by Papa Roach was a mix of rapcore and nu metal. Later albums would lack any rap elements in them, to which Papa Roach leader Jacoby Shaddix said he has always wanted to be a rocker, and so without the rap he felt more at home in this regard.
