A tension between the styles of the members of Husker Du helped create a unique sound, both punky and melodic, intense and soulful. The two songwriters also harmonized vocally, designing the Husker Du sound into what it is. Thus Husker Du were able to merge various influences, from folk and pop from the 60s to guitar distortions of the day.
