When girl singers and female vocalists fell out of vogue, Dusty Springfield moved to Memphis where she recorded Dusty in Memphis. This was 1969, the time of Sgt. Pepper's and the Summer of Love. The album is by far the ultimate Dusty Springfield masterpiece. Pop and soul, Dusty's emotional voice and the classic hit Son of a Preacher Man made this album an artistic accomplishment, even if somewhat of a commercial underachiever.
