Margo Timmins singing, her two brothers on the band and another Canadian musician on bass, the Cowboy Junkies have become a rather known and respected alternative folk rock band. Mixing Canadian country roots with blues and even psychedelic influences, the Cowboy Junkies were received by the alternative rock scenes in Canada, the US and elsewhere as a fresh breeze in an otherwise often monotonous industry.
