About Bob Dylan
In the fall of 1961 Bob Dylan signed with Columbia A&R thanks to their man John Hammond, who heard Dylan's works. Hammond produced Dylan's eponymous debut album (released in March 1962), a collection of folk and blues standards that boasted only two original songs.
