After working with the Chemical Brother in 1995, Beth Orton felt that she was now ready to release her debut album. In 1996 Beth Orton released "She Cries Your Name." the backing band Orton chose for the album was comprised of Ali Friend, guitarist Ted Barnes, keyboardist Lee Spencer and drummer Wildcat Will.
