About ABC
Influenced by Roxy music and David bowie, and carrying pop music into the 80s with a more self conscious attitude, ABC have captured the spirit that would be labeled New Romanticism. Alongside other bands such as Duran Duran and the Pet Shop Boys, ABC would develop a synthesizer sound mixed with campy lyrics and a theatrical style. Their success in England and the United States came in the form of no less than eleven top 20 singles released between 1981 and 1990, including Be Near Me and The Look Of Love, Pt. 1.
