The Weather Report was founded by two musicians, keyboardist Josef Zawinul and saxophone player Wayne Shorter. Both musicians played with Miles Davis before and with Weather Report they carried over the jazz fusion style. Birdland, the signature piece by Weather Report, composed by Zawinul, helped his reputation as the greatest synthesizer player in jazz spread wings and take root.
