Steve Gould (vocals), Dave Kaffinetti (keyboards), Graham Field (organ), and Mark Ashton (drums) founded rare Bird in 1969. The following year the band released its debut full-length album, As Your Mind Flies By. In the early 70's Andy Curtis (guitar) and Fred Kelly (drums) replaced Ashton and Field.
