Interpol are highly influenced by post punk bands Joy Division and Television. This is evident in their music style, with a thumping bass and chopped up guitar riffs. Interpol, active since 1998, have become somewhat of a New York icon, as the members (three of the original four) met on the New York University campus and their style is all too New York.
