Samsung Q Launch Postponed?

Despite reports that the Android equivalent of the Samsung Instinct, the Samsung Instinct Q, would be arriving to the U.S. through Sprint on the 11th of October, a report from an anonymous source (which means a 12 year old with an email account) has brought some contradiction. According to the source and several other, again anonymous, sources, (the classmates of the 12 year old with the email account) the Q will be available in November. First of all, a several week delay is not a cause to launch conspiracy theories and the notion that something must be horribly wrong with Sprint is jumping the gun just a little too quickly in my opinion. We should also consider that these sources are wrong and that blowing smoke in the information age is not inductive of a nearby

HTC Click to Debut in China

A Chinese publication, Economic Daily News, is reporting that the new HTC Android phone, dubbed the ‘Click’, will be available in the late fall to the Chinese market. The Click runs Android operating software, opposite its counter part, the HTC Mega, which will be using Windows Mobile. HTC has announced that the Click will be a budget phone, though one cannot help but snicker when the $300 price tag is revealed. With all the advancements in the Chinese economy, $300 is still not considered a budget phone. (Apparently the HTC marketing department has been sniffing glue again.) HTC expects overall revenue to increase from 11% to 19% following the release of the Click and Mega. (Again with the glue.) HTC has remained secret service quiet regarding the technical specs, yet

FPS Coming to the Android

Project Chronos is a first person shooter that is being hailed as revolutionary in the Android community. So what are the Androids raving about? Apparently, Project Chronos is the the second m, mobile3G game for the iPhone – as far as first person shooters go. You can see the video trailer of Project Chronos in this video: http://mobiletechaddicts.com/2009/08/16/project-chronos-awesome-looking-shooter-for-android am not convinced that mobile phones can come anywhere near PC games informs of quality gaming. Sure, the iPhone screen is large and the iPhone 3GS has an extremely powerful processor, but to think that it could run a popular game like War Total War will simply not hold true. One game in particularly that I would love to play on the iPhone is Resident Evil. (Not

BlackBerry Curve is Number One

With all the rustling and clamoring of the iPhone and Android, Q2 results in the Smartphone field reveal that BlackBerry is still number one. Taking the top spot is the BlackBerry Curve, along with the Pearl and Bold, which placed third and fifth respectively. Apple was also in the mix with the 3G S taking the runner up spot and the older 3G in the fourth spot. (Expect the 3G to disappear by the end of the year, as more Apple drones do as they’re told and upgrade to the 3G S.) With all the talk of the new Android Market and how it will impact the App Store, it would also be prudent for Apple to keep an eye out for the RIM BlackBerry World. With the biggest Smartphone distribution in the world, the economies of scale could make BlackBerry apps more lucrative than

Google to Push Android in the Business Sector?

Dethroning RIM from the top spot of the business Smartphone market is no small task, but that is exactly what Google will attempt to do in 2010. (If you believe Google that is.) While the Android operating system is scheduled to appear on 10 different handsets by the end of the year, businesses do not feel that Android offers enough business tools to be considered a viable alternative to RIM. Google acknowledged that while it was not offering many enterprise applications currently, that is all set to change next year. Google’s mobile director Andy Rubin echoed the company line about its future incursion into the RIM ruled b2b sector. "Today we don't support many enterprise applications but in the future I think enterprise will be a good focus for us." A

New Facebook App for the Android

Well, well, well. How the tables have turned. It was not too long ago when Facebook unofficially said that Android sucked and it doesn’t really mater if there was no Facebook app for the Android. In a world where Google rules all, even the mighty Facebook has been forced to come around. It is now more than just rumor that a new Facebook app will be available for the Android sometime next week. Facebook really didn’t have much choice in the matter. With 12 Android phones scheduled to make an appearance this year and with industry analysts calming that Android base phones will rule the market in 2010, Facebook’s was tied up harder than sleazy hooker in a cheap motel room. Look for more mainstream apps to capitalize on the Android’s awesome potential – not because they

New Motorola Morrison Powered by Android

With Android OS is set to become perhaps the most common operating system in the wireless market over the next few months, it came as no surprise that the new Motorola Morrison Smartphone would be running Android. While specs for the Motorola Morrison remain largely unknown, specs have revealed that the handset looks rather cheap and not overly impressive. That isn’t saying much when we consider that most Motorola phones are not a treat for sore eyes. Nevertheless, with some analysts predicating that Android will rule about half of the Smartphone market in the next 12 months, it was only a matter of time before some dumb Smartphones started offering the operating system. I personally believe that Android is superior to the iPhone in many ways, with one glaring

US National Debt App

A new Android app called the US National Debt is now available in the android store for free. Usually stupid apps such as this one are described as crap apps and mocked with much venom and plenty of regularity. If you haven’t guessed by now, the US National Debt app displays that current debt of the United States and nothing else. (I don’t care if it’s free. I expect to be paid for downloading smelly crap like this.) However, I refuse to classify this as a crap app because it falls into a new category called a suicide app. Not that I believe for a second that concerned and depressed American citizens are going to start jumping off roofs when they get the morning update on the country’s national debt, but rather because an app of this nature is so depressing that it

Color Blindness Test App

At times I honestly feel like an American Idol judge when evaluating mobile apps. There is so much useless content in some of these app stores, that actually finding a practical one is almost like a Christmas miracle. (And I’m Jewish) But enough of this ranting lunacy. A new app Color Blindness Test is now available for the Android OS. This app uses something called Ishihara plates to determine if you are color blind. While Color Blindness Test may not sound overly exciting to pimply faced brats, but it is very handy for obvious reasons. Simple yet practical is what most apps should strive for. Even though Color Blindness Test is no substitute for professional diagnosis, it can give you an indication if professional diagnosis is required. This is especially useful for
