RIM Fornicates with MySpace to Create New Service

MySpace is now available on the BlackBerry. As if there wasn’t enough of a distraction for business executives, now one of the world’s most popular social platforms is available for use according to a joint announcement from MySpace and RIM. The usual mind numbing activities of messaging, commenting and what ever else people do on MySpace instead of living normal and productive lives, will be available. Websites have been hyping this new marriage as if the world will never be the same again. With thousands of carriers and manufacturers of mobile devices world wide, to go along with dozens of social internet platforms, we should be receiving another inane announcement like this one any day now. Of course it will be hyped as the next big thing and of course, we’ll all eat

Celebs and Their Cell Phones

After vomiting ferociously when I saw a picture of Justin Timberlake with a BlackBerry, I asked myself a rather disturbing question. How did the world of mobile and the world of celebrity get so intertwined? On the surface, the answer appears to be related to obvious marketing practices in an industry that is suffering from too much competition and too little innovation. For the average cell phone user, most cell phones are like identical twins. With too many cell phones too choose from and overlapping services that are more of a plague than anything else, mobile customers are experiencing migraines and PMS when considering which cell phones to purchase. A New App Called PhoneFace is Available on the BlackBerry

A new and cute little app called PhoneFace is now available for the BlackBerry. Basically, PhoneFace allows you make text messages or phone calls by click on a picture rather than a name, phone number, or whatever other kind of method you use to select the lucky party who will be receiving your call. What’s nice about PhoneFace is its compatibly with FaceBook. Users of this social media abomination will be able to upload their pictures to their BlackBerry. This app isn’t free however, and the price tag of $9.95 may be a little steep for an app that doesn’t really do much. I would only recommend purchasing this app if you’re one of those people that get off using the neat but impractical. The PhoneFace is

New Dictation Service for the BlackBerry

Email via cell phones has always been such a challenge for us heavy handed westerners. Now, we less finger nimble cell phone users may have a solution that overcomes our handicap of ape like hands. (I could never quite figure out how my Asian classmates could twirl their pens around their fingers.) The solution comes from a company called MyCaption, which allows BlackBerry Smartphone users to dictate emails instead of having to type them on keyboards that were meant for a five year old. MyCaption, also the name of the actual service, allows users to dictate emails for up to three minutes each and view the text before it’s mailed. The Forward, Reply and Compose options are also integrated into this service, that may come in handy if it lives up to expectations. Underline

T-Mobile to Release the BlackBerry Bold in September

T-Mobile UK is set to release the new BlackBerry Bold this September. The Bold by RIM, a Waterloo, Ontario Canada based cell phone manufacturer that is responsible for the insanely popular BlackBerry series, has already seen its latest creation hit the shelves in Germany and Austria. The new Bold is a triumph of technological superiority. It has a Wi-Fi and internal GPS that nicely compliments HSDPA. The Bold has a full QWERTY keyboard, html browser, email, document viewer and for the most serious of executives – a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording. T-Mobile sighted the reason for bringing the BlackBerry Bold to the UK was the realization that there is an increased demand for broadband connectivity and the desire from consumers for more business and corporate
