Just wait and read the full news item before you get scared and click some other link thinking that this is some horror news. I wont be that scary at the beginning of the year so don’t worry at all. Actually the title does not suggest any haunted zones which are hunted by taxi drivers but places where your favourite mobile loses its soul - the network signal.
Ok, let me be more clear, actually Ericsson have launched a program in New York where they will install small devices in cabs which will detect signal strength of their network at various places in the city. Cabs have been chosen because they travel to all nooks and corners of the city and it would be easier to cover literally every inch of the ground.
This would help engineers to have better picture of the dead zones and therefore try to make them alive by appropriate technical measures. Let’s hope the search for the elixir of (mobile) life ends in the proper potion.
