April will be the beginning of a new mobile era for the National Football League. The NFL, the most popular and barbaric sporting league in the United States, has joined forces with Verizon wireless to create the new NFL Mobile. NFL Mobile will offer mobile users a unique football experience with shows such as NFL RedZone. "We are looking forward to working with Verizon Wireless to deliver our fans the most extensive experience on mobile phones," said Brian Rolapp, the NFL's senior vice president of media strategy. "Our fans have an insatiable appetite for football, and we will be able to keep them connected wherever they are on game day but also throughout the year." This is a good publicity stunt for Verizon but clearly displays the hypocrisy of the mobile carrier. Verizon will not allow adult content on its platform, but will allow a league that numbers many rapists and killers amongst its ranks. Of course, this is America, where just about every sin is preferable to sexuality in the eyes of the corporate community.
