Gowalla, a location based social networking service is now available for the Android operating system. Previously compatible with only the iPhone, Gowalla was hyped about making their service available for download to Android users. “Android is an exciting new frontier for mobile devices,” said Josh Williams, CEO and co-founder of Gowalla. “We believe the platform has a remarkable future and Gowalla for Android will play a significant role in our product lineup moving forward.” What does Gowalla actually do? After watching a YouTube video, I’m convinced that it really doesn’t do anything, but I am not a social networking guru and really don’t have the patience for what I consider inane, but other consider indispensable, services. There is the usual uploading to Facebook and other silly activities that many a teen and tween are sure to love. Gowalla is available for free for the Android. No word yet about versions for other operating systems at this time.
