Reports from Yahoo indicate that video game designers are literally tripping over each other in order to release video games for the iPad. More than one member of the video game industry has revealed how excited they are and how they believe the iPad will revolutionize the gaming experience. That rational is both right and wrong. Will the iPad appeal to the mainstream market for gaming entertainment? Sure it will. Much like the iPhone, users who are not serious gamers will certainly make use of the iPad to play games that range from versions of Super Mario Kart to Bejeweled. However, will serious games migrate to the iPad for their gaming needs? Probably not. The iPad as a system is too weak to run most of the video games that have been made over the last three years. As a serious gamer myself, I would not purchase the iPad in order to play games. Not that the option wouldn’t be a nice side feature, but it had better not be the focal point.
