Sex merchants were obviously outraged over Apple’s house cleansing recently, which saw most sex related applications given the axe. Outrage was further magnified when similar applications of larger companies were not given the same treatment. (Notably Sports Illustrated and Playboy.) Now, mobile porn dealers are starting to voice their distaste for Apple’s terminology. ‘It’s hypocritical: it seems Apple are happy to continue with what they consider to be big respected brands such as Sports Illustrated and Playboy,’ said Cherrysauce Managing Director Julia Dimamsbro. I have always wondered why Apple doesn’t simply use age verification instead of removing R rated applications. My thoughts were echoed by Steve Shields from Katrina Leisure. ‘Mind you, it is equally difficult to imagine how the holy heck they can’t administer a simple, robust and user-friendly age verification system so users of all ages can enjoy their device, not just those who still write with crayons,’ he said. Look for these two and other companies to start concentrating on the Android Market.
