Microsoft is considering the release of MS-Office for the iPad. While no official confirmation has been given by Redmond, speculation has it that an Office version for the iPad may be created. It remains unclear how an iPad version of Office will function. The lack of multi-tasking on the iPad will drastically reduce that functionality of Word and Excel and it is yet unknown what Microsoft intends to do in order to remedy this problem. Also, due to the lack of openness on the iPad, a great deal of cooperation will be need by both Microsoft and Apple. With rumors of a Microsoft tablet in the works, it is too early to tell what kind of cohesion will be achieved between the two competitors. Apple has a very poor history of working with other companies in order to improve their products. Their mentality of ‘our way or the highway’ has certainly made them a few enemies in the corporate world.
