With Apple’s much anticipated launch date of the iPad growing ever near, it was only a matter of time before a few corporate heavyweights started to poke their nose around, looking to cash in on what some believe is the next technological frontier. The corporate heavyweight in question is Sony. The Roman Empire of electronics already has a reader out on the market, but is also developing their own tablet, looking to compete with Apple. Sony CFO Nobuyuki Oneda confirmed that Sony was indeed developing a tablet. 'Time-wise we are a little behind the iPad but it's a space we would like to be an active player in,' said Oneda. Oneda went on to say that he doesn’t believe the iPad is capable of impacting the e-book market. Those lucky enough to have already tested the iPad report that the device is not the most comfortable on the eyes and that other readers cause less eye strain.
