I personally am not a huge fan of iPhone games, but there is no denying that they have been successful in becoming an integral part of the App Store. With that success, monetary rewards bloom with abundance. Gameloft, one of the leading video game companies, has reported an increase in revenue of 231 percent in 2009, when compared to the previous year. Gameloft’s annual financial results show that 25 million USD were generated from sales in the App Store in 2009. This success can be attributed to not only stellar game creation, but the overall emergence of the App Store as the leading wireless application provider in the world. The total earnings from game apps sold on the App Store comprise around 22 percent of Gameloft’s total earnings. This is certainly a significant amount and we should expect Gameloft to continue its investment in the App Store and an expansion into content specifically designed for the iPad as well.
