I remember Doom. Having just discovered computers as a young child, I happily wasted countless hours blasting aliens and bashing my keyboard. Now, the great first person shooter that started it all is available for the iPhone. A reason to celebrate? Not really. From time to time, many of us avid gamers will replay games from the past in hopes of recapturing some of the nostalgic enjoyment that was inseparable from our childhood. Unfortunately, most of us quickly realize that you can never go back. The classic Doom looks so dated now, that it hurts my eyes. Placing the same old game on the iPhone doesn’t make it any more tolerable. An old and forgotten game on a new platform doesn’t really increase the fun factor in my book. Am I a huge fan of playing video games on the iPhone? Sure, as long as they are modern and not an ancient relic that belongs in a museum.
