This year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is predicted to contain several interesting unveilings. One such unveiling is the Palm Pre and Pixi addition to Verizon Wireless. Currently, the webOS phones are available via Sprint, who is the sole provider of the two handsets in the United States. That is all scheduled to change in the near future according to a Bloomberg report. This is both a positive and negative situation for Palm. On one hand, their expansion to Verizon, the largest carrier in North America subscription wise, will surely give Palm significantly improved market availability. On the other hand, Verizon brandishes a much stronger arsenal of handsets compared to Sprint. With several high end BlackBerry devices and two Android smartphones joining the Verizon family in 2010, the Palm Pre and Pixi may be lost in the shuffle. Only time will tell if the webOS devices will be able to hold their own against stronger competition.
