Nokia has filed an official complaint with the ITC (International Trade Commission) over Apple infringement of seven different patents. Paul Melin, the man in charge of Nokia licensing and patents has claimed that this move is meant to protect Nokia innovation. Strong words from a man working for a company that has not done much innovating for the last several years. This entire complaint reeks of desperation. Nokia is in real danger of slipping into the second class of mobile phone manufacturers, as poor design and lackluster products have seen the competition leave Nokia in their dust. Now this whining and crying by Nokia is perhaps the final act before Nokia must officially acknowledge that they are no longer the powerhouse they once were in the mobile industry. Nothing wrong with that however. They had a good run, which ended because of poor flexibility and lack of ingenuity. Perhaps they should go back to their roots as a logging company.
