After years of covering the mobile industry, I was absolutely certain that I had seen all of the lows that wireless has to offer. (That doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of highs.) But this new tidbit of information has even left me shocked and flabbergasted. AT&T will no longer be offering the iPhone in New York City. Take a minute to digest that before continuing to read. AT&T has informed the public that the reason they are no longer offering the iPhone in the Big Apple is because New York is not ‘ready’ for the iPhone. What the hell does that mean?! By not ready, AT&T is referring to the fact that there are not enough towers in the New York area. There are two problems with this whole fiasco. 1) AT&T is to blame for its network woes and not New York. 2) What is preventing me from driving down to Jersey and buying an iPhone there?
