The cracks in the vessel known as Sony Ericsson have expanded into gaping holes that threaten to sink the once might mobile innovator and manufacturer. Sony Ericsson has made it publicly known that they plan on slashing 2000 jobs over the next year in order to become solvent. 4 facilities has been earmarked for downsizing that has been forced upon Sony Ericsson due to poor sales and loss of market share that have plagued the company for several years now. While the global recession may have been a catalyst for Sony Ericsson’s recent misfortune, it's bad decision making at the executive level and increased competition that are the biggest contributors to this inevitable decline. The only question is whether or not Sony Ericsson will be able to whether the storm. Some Sony Ericsson executives have unofficially stated that they are confident that the books will be in black by 2011, but some industry analysts believe that Sony Ericsson will either go bankrupt or be bought out before that happens.
