The new iTunes 9 was more than simply a mere upgrade for Apple. It symbolized a continuation of the heated battle between Palm and Apple in general and more specifically Pre users syncing with iTunes. Recently, Palm released a fix that bypassed Apple’s block on Pres users and iTunes. Rather than complain, (like they usually do) Jobs and crew made sure that iTunes 9 again blocked Pre users from syncing content to their handsets. As much as I detest Apple and everything they stand for, this is one of the few times that I am forced to side with the evil empire from Cupertino. iTunes was created by Apple and they should have full control over which hardware is compatible with their service. People can shout out monopoly until tomorrow for all I care. Also, instead of investing so much resources and energy into hacking another company’s software, (not very ethical) Palm should invest in their own comparative brand. I guess Palm realized that creating a service like iTunes isn't as easy as it first appears.
