TomTom, the famous GPS device, is now available in the app store for those of you in Canada and the United States. The TomTom app will do pretty much everything the normal GPS unit can do. The question remains however, what will happen to your iPhone should you need to use it while driving. Can the iPhone handle a phone call while TomTom is running? Can TomTom tell you how to get somewhere while you are listening to music? The main reason that these factors are important is because of the price. TomTom costs a shocking $100. If the app cannot run simultaneously with another program, then you would probably be better off buying a dedicated GPS device which run for more or less the same cost. I personally wouldn’t use TomTom because of the name. I don’t want to yell out TomTom every time. (I am guessing that you can probably change the device name to something else.) I would rather some chick with a sexy voice talk to me, than TomTom. She would be called Tonya and she could say things like ‘make a hard right’, ‘you’re almost there baby’ and ‘f@ck me big boy’. (Maybe the last one is wishful thinking.) For $100 I could by a dozen games for the iPhone, so getting TomTom instead just seems like a terrible waste of money.
