Well, as if they didn’t have enough money already. Best Buy, the big cheese of electronic retail, has decided to open 40 stand alone mobile retail locations this year. Brian Dunn, the Best Buy Warlord, confirmed this new venture and also mentioned that this move will compliment Best Buy’s ‘gadgets with connectivity’ campaign. I personally have long been a staunch supporter of removing any retail interaction between customers and wireless carriers, who are often lacking in the basic understanding of proper retail service. Best Buy and other similar merchants on the other hand, make a living from providing proper customer service and support in the electronics field. Wouldn’t it be great if we could by any phone at Best Buy and have one of the staff members activate the phone with the carrier of our choice? It is a wet dream I am afraid, but it’s certainly a fantasy I enjoy imagining.
