I have often ranted about the idiocy of some private surveys almost as often as I have ranted about crappy apps. This time however, I have come across one of the most pathetic, time wasting, irrelevant surveys in the history of surveys. A company called Common Sense Media (with common sense apparently standing for nonsense) has revealed that its very scientific and cutting edge methods have discovered that students are using smartphones to cheat. Really?! I haven’t been in any sort of academic environment in over a decade and even I know that students are more tech savvy than ever and will use any means at their disposal to get ahead in life. What’s even worse is that Common Sense Media also reported that parents believed that using cell phones during a test was cheating, but refused to fathom the possibility that their children were involved. Why did we need a survey to reach this conclusion and who was the moron that paid for it?
