What happened to the days when cell phones were devices used for verbal communication? Granted, advances in technology have turned mobile phone concept into an information machine that knows no limits, but at its heart, it is still a phone. That may all change however with Sony Ericsson’s rumored launch of the Kokura – a 12 mega-pixel phone that may be released at the end of next year. In theory, a 12 mega pixel camera sounds pretty interesting, but it should be noted that cell manufacturers have been known for sacrificing industry standards in mechanical specs in order to make theme phones possible. The Kokura may turn into more of a camera with a phone attached, then the other way around and while this may add a whole no wave of mobile invention and creativity, it perverts the concept that a cell phone is a phone first and foremost and everything else second. Of course, maybe I’m just getting old.
