This Funtonia writer laughed and ridiculed gaming entertainment on cellular devices. In fact, he thought it was a desperate attempt at some quick cash by leeching of a fad that may or may not be here tomorrow. Boy is I a fool. Electronic Arts, the undisputed king of video games, has announced no less than nine new titles that will soon debut on the iPhone and the iPod touch. What caught me off guard however, was not the quantity of games, but the games themselves. Sim City, The Sims and Tiger Woods Golf are just some of the names that will soon go mobile under the EA brand. That is some serious fire power and may only be a prelude to bigger and more sophisticated gaming for mobile devices. With EA bringing in such heavy hitters, it remains to be seen if the iPhone and the iPod can compete with the PSP and Game Boy. My gut instinct says no, but with EA stepping up to the plate, nothing is certain.
