Nokia has joined forces with travel expert Lonely Planet in order to offer tourism and travel services to users of Nokia handsets. This new service will be available through Nokia Maps and will cost 7.99 British Pounds. (That’s about 350 American dollars.) This new travel guide will give recommendations regarding popular tourism destinations and attractions, such as bars, restaurants and much more. Lonely Planet and Nokia claim to have over 100 destinations online and more to come in the near future. Questions still revolve around the possible application’s integration with GPS services and whether or not destinations released in the future will cost an additional sum. Stephen Palmer, head hound at Lonely Planet Publications could hardly contain his excitement when he said, "This is a genuinely transformational deal, which makes Lonely Planet readily available regardless of time or place. It will help all those questions which travelers frequently have on the road such as 'What should I explore today?' or 'Where should I go for dinner tonight?'" Hmmm….. maybe this service will help me find that new Hooters in Baghdad I’ve heard so much about.
