Although there will always be debate whether Wayne Shorter was a better a composer or a saxophonist, there will never be any doubt as to his overall impact on the jazz world. Though indebted to a great extent to John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter eventually developed his own more succinct manner on tenor sax.
