About Sade
Nigerian-born singer-songwriter Sade has released only five studio albums since she began recording. The New Age explanation for this slow recording pace is that each album demands a purpose and its own reason to be completed as a coherent album. This does not mean that Sade never records singles that become hits, as was the case early in her career, in 1984, with the cover of Smooth Operator, a stand-alone hit that was her first #1 single, on the adult contemporary charts in the US.
