Helen Folasade Adu, known professionally as Sade, is the lead singer, songwriter and frontwoman of the English band Sade. Born in Nigeria and having moved to England when four year old, Sade was exposed to such 70s soul singers as Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye, whose influence can be traced in her music.
