Patricia Kaas recorded her first national hit in 1987 with the song Mademoiselle Chante le Blues. It earned her the award for Female Newcomer of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique and promoted her album to platinum status several countries besides France, including Belgium and Switzerland. By the next album release in 1990 Patricia Kaas stayed on top of the charts in France for a period of three months.
