Oasis sold nearly 60 million albums over the years since they formed in Manchester in 1991, on the ruins of the Smiths disbanding and the promise of the new Britpop movement. Oasis, perhaps more than any other band of the 90s, looked back at British Invasion bands of the 60s and 70s, among them the Beatles, The Who and The Kinks.
