Queen Latifah, also from New Jersey, was involved in advising and mentoring Naughty by Nature in their early days, and has been involved in their decision to change their name from the previous The New Style. Naughty by Nature would indeed become the name most hip hop fans would get to hear and love in the following years, especially after OPP and Hip Hop Hooray were released.
