About Lynyrd Skynyrd
Originally from Florida, singing about Alabama and being 100% American, Lynyrd Skynyrd were above all a rock and roll band. That said, the term southern rock would come into use around music critics later on, and would serve accurately to define the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd, a mixture of blues and rock and roll, with no jazz improvisations, instead a three lead guitar lineup and a raucous yet freewheeling sound.
