Following a season on American Idol and a pop album released soon after, Kelly Clarkson became a teen pop singer. It took another try, the sophomore album Breakaway, for Kelly Clarkson to break lose and let out her rock and roll energies. Some live shows and TV appearances, most notably on Saturday Night Live where she performed both singles from Breakaway, the title song and Since U Been Gone helped Kelly further establish her rock image.
