About Jimmie Davis
Jimmie Davis was not only a two-term governor of Louisiana, but also a singer of traditional country music. His song You Are My Sunshine was, appropriately, chosen to be the state's official song in 1977. The funny thing is that Jimmie Davis did not write the song himself, but rather purchased it from the Rice Brothers, in a modern, pop culture version of the famous The Louisiana Purchase.
