About Gang Starr
Gang Starr started off as a foundation of sorts, a collaborative effort by several Brooklyn based hip hop artists. It has become a two-man group, composed of MC Guru and DJ Premier, but has still collaborated with many artists and musicians, on independent projects and on Gang Starr albums. Their contribution to a Spike Lee movie soundtrack (Mo' Better Blues) with the song Jazz Thing has made Gang Starr a turning point in the development of jazz-rap.
