Dexy's Midnight Runners enjoyed worldwide success mainly with their 1982 single release of Come on Eileen, the Celtic style pop song. But the band was most successful in the UK, where their British pop sound with soul influences was brash like the post punk bands of the era while predicting the onslaught of pop bands that followed later in the 80s, making Dexy's Midnight Runners quite a landmark in the development of British pop music.
